Notocactus macracanthus Freesia will limit distribution(aka: Parodia sellowii, Wigginsia macracantha) Notocactus macracanthus has been an outstanding performer in our in ground trials at JLBG. In the wild, this Uruguay native can be found growing on rocky outcrops in the country's grasslands. In our rock garden, it forms 3" tall x 6" wide chubby green rosettes, topped, starting in early spring, with brilliant yellow flowers. Dry soils during the winter months are key to survival in cold winter climates.
