Issu dune grande famille aristocratique, il mne dabord la vie dun jeune artiste, au sein des milieux culturels et intellectuels du Paris des annes 1920. Grce sa rencontre avec le philosophe catholique Jacques Maritain en 1930, il entame un cheminement spirituel qui le conduit devenir moine bndictin. Il restera toute
