Vintage Cowrie Shell Ladle with Bakelite Handle ice cream parlor constructed of woodVintage sea snail shell serving spoon or ladle with a beige Bakelite handle. This piece features the shell of a member of the Cypraeidae family, known as a cowrie or cowry (depending on your region). The Italian word for this, "porcellana", was the basis for what we now call porcelain. The shell is attached to a metal stalk, which is in turn affixed to a tan handle that appears to be made from Bakelite. Exhibits minor signs of wear including some
