Littérature the first twenty-two months ofUkiyo e ("images of the floating world") is a Japanese artistic movement that emerged during the prosperous Edo period (1615 1868). Characteristic of this period, the prints were the collective work of an artist, an engraver, and a printer. Developed due to their low cost thanks to the evolution of the technique, they depicted daily life, women, kabuki theater actors, and sumo wrestlers. Landscapes subsequently became a favorite subject. Moronobu, the
