Polished fossil stromatolite. Pseudogymnosolenid type. DOG165 Polished dendritic opal 290 mm x 150 mmDOG165 Fossil stromatolite slab, polished on one side. Superb museum quality specimen ! An as yet unidentified stromatolite, form of Pseudogymnosolenid type. The stromatolite occurs as small digitate columns which are finely laminated. It probably grew in shallow water conditions with intermittent subaerial exposure. From an unassigned unit of the Wyloo Group. Age is approx. 1. 8 billion years.
