The history of the Clan MacAlpine is obscure

This pattern can be traced back to Wilsons of Bannockburn's pattern books

MACGILLIVRAY (ANCIENT) GENERAL It has much in commonA characteristic Clan Chattan tartan", writes D. C. The chiefship of Clan MacGillivray is thought to be vacant and the last Steward of the Clan, Colonel George Brown MacGillivray of Thunder Bay, Ontario died in 1994.
