Les premières salles. antiquité then the layout and developmentOn December 18, 1994, three speleologists (Jean Marie Chauvet, liette Brunel, and Christian Hilaire) discovered the entranceblocked for 21,000 yearsto a gigantic decorated cave in Vallon Pont d'Arc, in the Ardche department. The oldest paintings and engravings date back more than 36,000 years. Due to the natural closure of this cavity, all the parietal works and archaeological remains found there have been maintained in an exceptional state of
