The Badge consists of an Urdy cross in white enamel, oak branches in each quadrant, the obverse centerpiece bearing the Royal cypher of its founder, surrounded by a ring in white enamel with the words (For Civil Merit) in gilt lettering, the reverse bearing a crowned lion rampant, surrounded by a ring in white enamel with the words 2 1891 (2 August 1891) in gilt lettering, unidentifiable mark on suspension ring, inclusive of
